8 - 11yr. Mixed Martial Arts Basic Training
Panza MMA offers the most comprehensive junior self defense program. At Panza MMA classes are structured in the format of a traditional martial arts school while curriculum is designed to be the most progressive and effective martial arts system. Children learn the value of discipline, compassion, and team work while exercising their ability to focus and think under pressure. Although Panza MMA teaches student’s to utilize non-violent means of resolving differences, the core curriculum is designed to teach children how to first avoid trouble and second how to defend themselves if physically assaulted. At Panza MMA the child’s safety both in and out of the school is paramount above all other matters. It is with the utmost priority that children are safely taught self defense based on the most practical and effective three martial art disciplines of submission grappling, kickboxing, and boxing. Children learn blocks and defensive maneuvers to protect themselves against strikes and other forms of physical aggression such as being tackled or thrown to the ground. At the core of the children’s MMA program kids learn how to read an opponent’s body language which may telegraph a strike with a fist, kick, or weapon, so they may readily defend themselves. Kids also focus on preventative measures so they will not be choked or strangled and learn how to escape from a plethora of holds from an attacker. Ultimately as the child or teenager advances they become well versed as martial artist not only learning how to prevent or escape physical assault but ultimately how to strike back with appropriate force.
Children ages 8-11 are first introduced to Panza MMA’s curriculum in our core classes referred to as Basic Training. As with all children’s programs,8-11 year olds focus their training on using martial arts to learn practical and appropriate self-defense. Very important to the Panza MMA curriculum is modifying the techniques so they are age appropriate and safe. Our children focus their training, specifically the grappling, on learning how to escape from dangerous situations. Children learn how to escape from various choke holds, head locks, and other dangerous positions. One of the most helpless positions a child may find themselves in is to be mounted, to be put on their back and sat on in an uncomfortable seemingly helpless position. Using the basic principles of grappling Panza MMA children will not be held down in any such position by any unskilled grappler remotely their weight. We teach children how to escape and defend. Our concern is self defense and self assertiveness - we are not training grammar school children to be lethal weapons. However children are equipped with the tools to fend off and defeat a persistent attacker that is their size and up to a few years older using kickboxing as a last resort. We also teach our children self-defense through awareness and drill them on safety in crowds and how to appropriately and effectively respond to a much larger assailant or predator. While learning the art of MMA our children develop a greater sense of confidence, improved discipline, increased physical fitness, greater ability to focus and they have fun – which is how we keep them learning.
Kids in the 8-11 Basic Training program are generally asked to move into our Advanced Training program after having completed six months to a year of Basic Training. As children get older it is easier to teach them the responsibility of power. Our program is not an ordinary karate program. Panza MMA teaches the most current – effective – Martial Arts system available today. As children move through their first semester of Basic Training they are given the basic tools for boxing, kickboxing and submission grappling, including the knowledge to responsibly use their techniques for self-defense. We teach what appropriate retaliation is and how to differentiate between what is horseplay, what a real attack is, and how to be safe and protect yourself in any grey area of the equation.
12 -16yr. Mixed Martial Arts Basic Training
Unique to Panza MMA is a strong teenage program. This age group, which is usually scarce in martial arts schools, flourishes at Panza MMA because of the practical age appropriate curriculum. Teenagers have it rough. We understand that many of them are entering high school; some of them are already thinking about college and academic and social pressures are at an all time high. Boys need a productive way to harness their new found strength and energy and girls need to feel confident and strong so they may make clear rational decisions. Our teenage martial arts program is designed to teach teens the most practical and effective self defense. Teens at Panza MMA do not waste time doing antiquated martial arts moves and Katas that have no practical application. Boys and girls box, kickbox, and grapple. The most common physical assault any boy will face is another boy trying to punch him in the face. Learning how to box correctly teaches first and foremost how to defend punches. Both girls and boys train in submission grappling. Should your son be assaulted by a charging boy trying to tackle and slam him to the ground like a football player or wrestler may stereo-typically attempt, the basics of grappling will teach him how to defend the take down and not be slammed on his back, neck, or head. Should your daughter be pinned to the floor in a worst case scenario position by a larger attacker, learning proper submission grappling combined with the Panza MMA self defense system she will first learn how to stall the attacker and call for help. Later as she adavances through the program, she will learn how to escape from compromising positions, ultimately countering with strikes or submission holds.

Kickboxing is unique to other forms of martial arts because it deals with combat at multiple ranges. Kicking techniques are used from long range to medium range. Punching and kneeing techniques are used from medium range to close range. Elbow strikes and neck wrestling, otherwise known as clinching, are used at close range. Kickboxing an intricate and versatile core martial art and essential for the growth and development of any true Mixed Martial Artist.
Adult Boxing

Once a student has a sound foundation they are taught advanced punching techniques, combinations, and the intricacies of foot movement and andvanced defense. Panza MMA boxing takes you from bag work to ring work so you get the physical benefits of boxing training and the satisfaction of learning this amazing art. Combined with other MMA classes boxing is your first step to being a complete Mixed Martial Artist.
Adult Submission Grappling
This class teaches the basic through advanced levels of offense and defense to takedowns as in Freestyle Wrestling, throwing as in Judo and Greco-Roman Wrestling, and positions and submissions as in Brazilian Jujitsu. This form of self defense is incredibly effective because as you learn how to defend being choked or strangled you also learn how to effectively apply submission holds including chokes, arm locks and leg locks. Learning how to properly choke out an attacker is a great form of self-defense because an unconscious attacker is no longer a threat.
Fitness MMA/Kickboxing
This program is designed to give a full body workout. Unlike other martial arts based work outs Panza Fitness MMA is not an aerobics class with kicks and punches added in. It is a boot camp style cross training session that utilizes kickboxing movements for striking bags, pads, and other targets. This constant kick punch routine is a cardio workout and a strength conditioning session as well. Complete with a full abdominal routine, stretching, rope jumping, and basic calisthenics Panza Fitness MMA utilizes resistance bands, dumbbells, and medicine balls for extra toning and strengthening.
